Yes you can disable weight. That's primarily what I use it for.

Had to reload an earlier save point last night. Doing one of the Free Ranger missions and came across some girl wanting me to take care of a bounty hunter who was after her. So I kill the dude in the bar and then everyone started attacking me. Tried running to my ship and jumping outta the galaxy, but everywhere I went, I would just get attacked by Free Ranger ships. Lol

Anyhow, this game has been fun. Lives up to its billing of Skyrim in space.

I just installed the DLSS 3.5 Frame Generation mod, Star UI on my Gamepass edition. So much better with the inventory management. I kind of want to install the unlimited bypass inventory weight now. I'm in the deep mines and I'm throwing away resources...

Game runs really smooth 120-165FPS at 1440p DLSS 3.5 all settings at ultra.

Nope.

Just added the HD Rework Mod to make the textures, cities and NPCs look much better.

Bit more pop to the IQ. Sarah looks even hotter now

Reshade is unnatural to me. Sarah def got a flat booty out of the box. Call me Sir Mix a Lot.

Yeah no DLSS still... I downloaded the Frame Gen DLSS 3.5 mod for the Gamepass edition and it's running pretty good so far. Get anywhere from 80s fps (outside open world gun battles to 165 (indoors) at 1440p everything High.

Beat it on the weekend but I've lost all drive to do anything else with this. It was fun for awhile but the game has too many rough edges and disparate elements that never really make sense in a package. The fuel stuff is a great example, it exists for basically no reason. They had a plan to make exploration more challenging and ditched it according to Howard but just left the fuel mechanic in out of laziness. Outposts are another mechanic that they had planned to make integral to other aspects of the game but ditched part way through development so they still just sort of exist but aren't tied into anything. I don't mind that but they wasted a lot of time on it. The game is filled to the brim with that sort of stuff. The amusing random encounters tail off and Starfield has the worst repetition I've seen for bases/caves, just indefensibly lazy with the same templates. This makes the whole exercise in random planets feel pointless. I was also let down by the lack of depth in companions, they reduced the companion quests from FO4. It's a shame because they had good characters and wasted some opportunities here. That's really the whole game - you can see the ambition of what they wanted to do but reality intervened and they ended up doing a lot less. There were a lot of questionable design decisions that exist only to annoy the player too - low limitations on weight and cargo especially. The UI is awful and only rescued by mods, some really unbelievable decisions made on that front.

On the plus side it has the best gunplay I've seen in a Bethesda title but I suspect that has more to do with idsoftware being brought in at the last minute than anything else. The highlight of the game is unquestionably the faction quests, the main quest line only has a few that are on that level. I do like the clever way they implemented NG+ into the story but not enough to keep playing. This is really at its best when it remembers its an RPG. Some of the writing and quests were excellent and on par with the Thieves Guild stuff in Skyrim.

I will revisit it one day way down the line after a lot of patches and mods have been made. This really deserves a 7 point something but I will rate it an a 8 out of 10 based on its highlights and gloss over its failures. I don't regret the time spent on it but I expect Bethesda to do better in the future, this is a drop in quality compared to Skyrim and even FO4 in some ways.

I really hope they don't attempt to do Elder Scrolls 6 with the Creation engine again, this game was definitely hampered by it. I don't care if they have to break two decades of tool/API compatibility, just make a clean break so that future design ambition is not hamstrung by the engine.

This game has some weird hooks man. I feel like I need closure with the pirate faction quest. I really hate the Crimson fleet. Almost everyone on it is an insufferable douche. It's *almost* worth playing the entire CF faction quest to go on a killing rampage in the end. If hunting down and killing Naeva isn't future DLC I'd be very surprised, the internet hates her . Jazz is cool though and I felt bad for unsubscribing her from life. Also, someone make Lt Toft wifeable please. Maybe after a relapse to her old life and you have to bring her back from it. Freaking Bethesda needs to hire me as a writer.

In other news, NG+ is a lot of work for not much reward. Besides being able to experience true Starborn nihilism on a meta level, seeing some alternate universes and having a few unique dialogue options, it's not making you more powerful AND it's making enemies harder to kill without telling you. The Starborn armor is always junk compared to what can drop since you can't equip a helmet. And the ship is trash compared to what you can build until you reach NG8+. I gave up on doing all the temples to level up powers too since it is so freaking tedious and most powers aren't that great.

My biggest gripe after 200+hrs is how the game world feels so... inconsistent. There are moments where I feel I can lose myself in the world. I kept going back to Neon to give a street urchin 25 credits every day hoping something would change. But in the back of my mind, I knew what BGS was trying to say about this kind of social issue. And then there are moments when I feel so frustrated by the cardboard cutout mechanics of the game. Like when you're forced to talk to someone instead of say pickpocketing them. Or shooting NPCs and they don't die because they're "special" characters like Administrator Bayu. This is all DLC potential obviously. But let me upend Neon like I upended Hopetech dammit. We get it, he has "absolute power" and even as special as the PC is, they're helpless to do anything.

The game is truly Buddhism lite. It expects you to go through the cycle of conflict and reincarnation until you become enlightened enough to see the futility of seeking power and live a life of compassionate contemplation. So basically run your NG10+ and then go build a dream outpost by the sea with your book collection. Is it possible to complete a run of NG+ without killing anyone or recruiting a companion? Would be cool if that unlocked a secret special ending...
