Where you can find Trademarket vendors after venue closes this weekend (2024)

Sunday, July 14 marks the final day of Trademarket as the popular Belfast food and retail market closes its doors.

The shipping container market on Dublin Road had a temporary lease with digital technology company Kanios to operate on the site of the former Movie House Cinema.

After Kainos was given the green light to begin work on its Bankmore Exchange HQ on the site earlier this year, Trademarket launched a campaign to find a new location.

However, the team were unable to secure a new site before their final day of trading this summer but they are continuing to push for a location to reopen in the future.

A message on their social media read: "We haven’t been able to secure a new site just yet, but we continue to work behind the scenes to make this happen and hope to have good news to share on this in the near future."

Made up of local independent food and retail vendors, many regulars may be left wondering where they will be able to get their hands on their favourite goods after Trademarket closes.

We have rounded up where you can find the current Trademarket vendors in the future and how to keep up to date with their plans:

Bodega Bagels

Bodega Bagels have been bringing a taste of the states to Northern Ireland since starting their journey in 2021.

Their NYC bagels are hand rolled, boiled & baked daily and offer a rang of hot and cold options for a perfect lunch fix.

When Trademarket closes, they will continue to operate their second location at Banana Block in East Belfast but have also teased summer pop-ups, events and other "exciting future plans" on their social media.

Pie Queen

Pie Queen has been a staple in Trademarket since it first opened its doors in 2022 and Shonee McWilliams has shared her heartbreak over the future of the venue.

Specialising in handcrafted pies, both sweet and savoury, and other delicious goods, the Pie Queen started in her East Belfast kitchen during the pandemic.

On the business future, Shonee said on Instagram that "the future of Pie Queen is blurry but believe me I'm not giving up on this bad boy yet" and she is on the hunt for summer pop up collaborators.

Rebel and Ruse

Smokey and salty, Rebel and Ruse brought some proper BBQ to the Belfast market.

The heart of their offering is a custom-built cage fire and a focus on local produce - producing some seriously packed sandwiches, baps and more over the past two years.

Rebel and Ruse are yet to confirm what is in their future after Trademarket closes but their social media says that they are able to cater for weddings, private hire and corporate events.

Pi Guy

The mouthwatering pizza spot has remained a popular go-to at the market since it opened.

Pi Guy specialises in sourdough pizzas, hand-making their naturally leavened dough over a 72-hour period.

On the closing, owner Marty said: "The sheer amount of interest in what we’re gonna do next has been a bit overwhelming. It means a lot that people make such an effort to reach out and are actually interested in what we’re gonna do next."

Katsu Kitchen

Described as "A journey through Asia - where east meets west", Katsu Kitchen has been serving up an Asian taste sensation at the Dublin Road site since 2022.

Rarely seen without a queue, the Katsu Kitchen team said they have had a lot of interest in what is coming next after Trademarket closes its doors.

They have confirmed that they managed to secure two new homes for Katsu Kitchen, both in the city centre, and to keep an eye on social media to find out where.

Baps

LA smash burgers, Nashville hot chicken, loaded fries, wings and more - Baps got mouths watering at the market.

The team at Baps thanked customers and the Trademarket for the positive response and support over the last number of years since opening.

Baps is now preparing to open their new location which they are calling their permanent home. Where they are opening is yet to be revealed.

Pipián

Specialising in California-style burritos, Pipián is a fresh street food concept that was one of the original Trademarket vendors.

Their burritos, tacos and chips and dips always went down a treat with customers enjoying a bite to eat and drink at the market.

Pipián has not shared what is next for them after Sunday just yet.

Franky’s Lasagneria

One of the newer vendors at Trademarkert, Franky's Lasaneria has been bringing a taste of Italy to the Dublin Road since March.

Specialising in pasta and parms, they have not shared any updates on social media on their future or what their plans are for after Trademarket closes.

KUBO

KUBO brings food of the Philippines to the heart of Belfast and has the city falling in love with Filipino BBQ street food.

The brainchild of Nallaine Calvo, who is originally from Toronto, the successful pop-up food stall business was started four years ago at the beginning of lockdown.

On the future, they said: "While we gather our resources to bring you a greater Kubo experience, we've a whole summer lined up for you until then."

With a number of supper clubs and collabs lined up, they have announced their first supper club with Phin Coffee on Ormeau Road.

OutsideIn

Local clothing brand Outside In opened its first physical space in Belfast at Trademarket and after two years are "sad to be leaving".

They operate a 'Wear One Share One' concept where for every item purchased they donate another to someone experiencing homelessness.

OutsideIn clothing is available to purchase on their online store and they annually operate a stall at the Belfast Christmas Market.

WAK-O

Only part of the retail offering at Trademarket for six weeks, WAK-O has made its impression on the people of Belfast.

The streetwear and vintage clothing unit offers printed designs for those fashion-forward customers.

With a website in the works, WAK-O said: "Big plans for WAK-O, this is only the beginning so keep em eyes peeled for what’s to come next".

Nica Nica

Authentic Italian Cannolis, coffee, chocolate and more.

Nica Nica may have only joined the Trademarket team in May but their pistachio croissants and other goods soon went viral after opening.

A number of their goods are available to purchase on their website for those needing a sweet treat after the food and retail market closes this weekend.

Attaboy

Barbers Phill Reynolds and Orán Matthews opened up their own unit Attaboy at Trademarket in April.

They have confirmed they are closed next week after Trademarket's final day on Sunday but have said they are due to reopen the following week - yet to confirm a locaiton.

Maiden Voyage

Tattoo artist Sabra Carson brought her creativity and talent to the Dublin Road with her own studio earlier this year.

She confirmed that while her current venture has come to an end at Trademarket, Maiden Voyage has "future plans in the works".

Sabra has a number of guest spots lined up across the city alongside some of her favourite tattoo artists and said clinets can keep up to date on her social media.
